Scenes from the town of Crested Butte

The town of Crested Butte grew up around the rich mines found in the surrounding mountains. Today, although the business is quite different, the town maintains its charm and displays its history throughout. As you enter town where St. George is defending against attack, you'll find the pace slows. The first evidence is the speed limit, which is 15 mph in town. Along Elk Avenue, the main street of Crested Butte, you will find strollers, bikers, and occasional skateboarders. The shops are quaint; many of the buildings are relics of Crested Butte's early days. Relax and enjoy the ambience.
